Hi Aditi, I appreciate your desire to solve this problem. I’ve put a lot of stock into managing my health in whatever ways I can, and that was inspired by having a child. So I hate to say “have a baby”, but it did help :) However, I know that’s not a realistic solution. But studying online, reading books about health and healing, trying to isolate why I do the things I do, these have been helpful. One thing I came onto was something called candida. Apparently, this cretin makes us crave sugar uncontrollably. Other symptoms are UTIs. I notice when I get on a good streak of not eating junk, I can stay on it for awhile, but like an addict, one bite can throw me off the rails for weeks or months. I wish I had a cut and dry answer, but, like an alcoholic, I focus on “one day at a time” and keep reminders around my home to remember how I’d like to live. When I’m doing well, I keep washed, cut vegetables and fruits front and center in the refrigerator so when I get a desire to munch, that’s the first thing I see. Like an alcoholic, I also have to keep bread pretty much out of my house.
