Bet you didn’t know as much about cherries as you’re about to…

Who doesn’t like cherries? Cherries are one of the best fruits on the planet, and I’ll go so far as to say one of the best foods on the planet, and to anyone who disagrees, I’m willing to debate you in a public forum, any time, bud!

Here are the things I love about cherries:

  • They can be enjoyed in sweet dishes, such as cherry pie, cherry cobbler or this scrumptious cherry clafoutis cream cake
  • They can be enjoyed in savory dishes, such as a turkey, brie, pear and cherry panini, or this spicy cherry chutney
  • The gorgeous shades of red, purple or even yellow are a bright and fun addition to meals
  • They taste great in Shirley Temples
  • They are packed with nutrients and low in calories (one cup of cherries has 97 calories and includes 18% of your daily vitamin C, as well as B vitamins, vitamin K, potassium and fiber)
  • They are high in anti-oxidants and polyphenol (cancer-fighting chemicals)
  • They’ve even been proven to improve sleep
